Suri-urushi is a technique in which lacquer is applied by brushing it into the bamboo with a cloth soaked in lacquer. This coating method utilizes the fibers of the bamboo. It will change over time after years of use.

By carving it into an octagonal shape, it is more rounded, making it very comfortable in the hand.

Shirotake
The bamboo is selected and cut from September to November. The oil of the bamboo is removed by Kyoto's unique fire-roasting process, resulting in a beautiful, lustrous bamboo.
